Pediatric Diabetes Care in New Jersey
Guiding Children Toward Healthier, Happier Lives
When a child is diagnosed with diabetes, it can feel overwhelming for everyone. But what happens when the usual diabetes care isn’t working for your child? At Weisman Children’s, we help kids who struggle with managing their diabetes. We look deeper to find out what’s been making it so hard — like being scared of needles, problems at school, family stress, or other things that make diabetes care feel impossible.
Whether your child was just diagnosed or has had diabetes for years but is still having a tough time, we create a diabetes care plan that fits their age, daily life, and specific challenges.
A Child-Focused Approach to Diabetes Management That Delivers Real Results
We know that every child who comes to us has their own story — and often, their own reasons why diabetes management has been difficult. While keeping it as stress-free and kid-friendly as possible, we work with your child to identify and overcome the specific barriers that have been holding them back. We then help them build sustainable skills for daily diabetes care.
Depending on your child’s needs and challenges, their diabetes management plan may include:
- Blood sugar monitoring education
- Insulin therapy guidance
- Meal planning and carb counting support
- Understanding the signs of high or low blood sugar
- Tools to manage diabetes at school or during sports
- Emotional support for kids coping with a diagnosis or burnout
- Parent and caregiver training and updates
- Opportunity for outings into the community
We help kids feel confident with their daily diabetes care and give families the tools to support them with less stress. Through our Weisman Cares program, we continue supporting families for up to 15 months after treatment to help overcome challenges and maintain progress at home.
